Insulated Angular Contact Ball Bearings

CoatMaster has been able to increase reliability and machine uptime by virtually eliminating the damaging effects of stray electric currents. CoatMaster bearing designs The standard range of CoatMaster bearings in the most frequently used sizes and variants are available from stock as

  • single row deep groove ball bearings
  • single row cylindrical roller bearings.
  • single row angular contactball bearings.

The performance data as well as the dimensional and running accuracy of CoatMaster bearings are identical to standard non insulated bearings.

CoatMaster bearings with coated outer ring Bearings with an electrically insulating coating on the external surfaces of the outer ring are the most common CoatMaster bearings. They are identified by the suffix VL0241. Outer ring coated CoatMaster bearings are recommended for medium size motors, that use 7215, 7313 size bearings and larger. For applications where smaller bearings are used, CoatMaster recommends hybrid deep groove ball bearings.

CoatMaster bearings with coated inner ring Bearings with an electrically insulating coating on the external surfaces of the inner ring provide enhanced protection against electric current damage. The enhanced protection results from the increased impedance due to the smaller coated surface area. Bearings with a coated inner ring are identified by the

suffix VL2071 and are recommended for larger size motors (typically from bearing sizes 7226, 7324 sizes and larger), or other applications where the bearings risk being subjected to high shaft voltages.

CoatMaster Electrically Insulated angular contact ball bearings can only bear axial load in one direction. When bearing radial load, additional axial force will be caused. And it can only limit the axial displacement of the shaft or housing in one direction. Angular contact ball bearings have a contact angle of 40 degrees, so they can withstand large axial loads. Angular contact ball bearings are of non-separable design, and the shoulders on both sides of the inner and outer rings are different in height. In order to improve the load capacity of the bearing, the shoulder on one side will be processed lower so that the bearing can be loaded with more steel balls.

Electrically Insulated angular contact ball bearings can withstand larger radial loads, mainly combined radial and axial loads and moment loads, limiting the axial displacement of the shaft on both sides. The tiltability between the inner and outer rings of the double row angular contact ball bearing is mainly used to limit the bidirectional axial displacement of the shaft and the housing. The allowable tilt angle depends on the internal clearance of the bearing, bearing size, internal design and acting on it. The force and moment on the bearing, and the maximum allowable inclination angle should ensure that no excessive additional stress is generated in the bearing. If there is an inclination angle between the inner and outer rings of the bearing, it will affect the life of the bearing, and at the same time cause the bearing’s running accuracy to decrease and the running noise to increase. Double row angular contact ball bearings generally use nylon cages or brass solid cages. Pay attention to the installation of double row angular contact ball bearings. Although the bearing can withstand two-way axial loads, if there is a gap for the ball on one side, care should be taken not to allow the main axial load to pass through the gap on the side of the groove. When the bearing is used, care should be taken to make the side raceway without the ball notch bear the main load.

Electrically Insulated Paired double ball bearings

If it is installed in pairs, the outer rings of a pair of bearings are opposite, that is, the wide end faces the wide end face and the narrow end faces the narrow end face. In this way, additional axial force can be avoided, and the shaft or housing can be restricted to the axial clearance range in both directions.

Because the raceways of the inner and outer rings can have relative displacement on the horizontal axis, they can bear radial load and axial load at the same time—combined load (single row angular contact ball bearings can only bear axial load in one direction, so they usually Install in pairs).

The material of the cage is brass, synthetic resin, etc., which are differentiated according to the type of bearing and the conditions of use.

Angular contact ball bearings are mostly manufactured by foreign bearing manufacturers, and more domestic ones are used in imported equipment such as angular contact ball bearings 3204RS, etc.

The narrow side is outside, the wide side is inside, the other wide side is inside, and the narrow side is outside, which means back-to-back contact.

The accuracy grades of angular contact ball bearings include dimensional tolerances and rotation accuracy. The accuracy from low to high is represented as P0 (normal), P6 (P6X), P5, P4, P2.

Technical features and benefits of Electrically Insulated bearings

  • The coating is applied using a plasmaspray technique. Sophisticated pre- and post- application processes yield an outstanding coating quality.
  • CoatMasterbearings are treated with a unique sealant to guard against humidity

and water from penetrating the coating and reducing its effectiveness.

  • Due to the quality of the application and finishing processes, CoatMasterbearings

provide reliable and consistent insulation, that is virtually insensitive to heat, moisture

and chemicals.

  • CoatMaster can supply values for relevant electric parameters for the bearings (capacitance,

impedance) to optimize the insulating solution for any application.

  • CoatMasterbearings are environmentally friendly.
  • CoatMasterbearings with an outer ring coating are suitable for all types of housings. No additional mounting precautions are necessary
